Grant Press Release Misfires
Grant Press Release Misfires
Charge levied against primary opponent Larry Joe Doherty patently false
(Austin) — A press release issued today by the Dan Grant campaign quickly backfired, as it was proven to be baseless and untrue. In his afternoon release, Grant falsely attributes statements to Doherty, claiming they were made in an online interview with Austin public radio station KUT. This interview, however, never happened. This morning, KUT retracted an erroneous description of Doherty’s position on a National Animal Identification System (NAIS).
“This is a fight against Michael McCaul and the failed policies of George Bush,” stated Doherty. “That my primary opponent would attempt to claim that I’ve expressed any type of agreement with Michael McCaul about a program I oppose shows a total lack of seriousness when it comes to representing people.”
The Grant campaign’s negative shot at Doherty soon unraveled, warranting an apology from Doherty’s opponent.
“Dan has an opportunity here to set the record straight,” noted campaign spokesperson Andy Kabza. “An apology is in order. The people of the 10th Congressional District are looking for real leadership, not petty political games.”
