FEC Report

(Austin) — Adding to his impressive showing from the fourth quarter of 2007, Democratic Candidate for the Congress Larry Joe Doherty filed that he raised $66,975 from 167 individuals between January 1st and February 13th. The new numbers bring the campaign’s total raised to
nearly $447,000 as of February 13th from 623 individual donors.

“The overwhelming support for my campaign shows that people are fed up with Republican failures and politics as usual,” noted Doherty. “George Bush and Republican Mike McCaul have turned their backs on regular Americans in favor of the special interests, and people are demanding change.”

Doherty is no stranger to holding the powerful interests accountable. As a legal malpractice attorney, Doherty built a national reputation for taking on lawyers who abused the trust of their clients. He is also widely recognized as the star of the courtroom series Texas Justice.

Since the filing period ended, the campaign has continued to receive donations and to date, total contributions have topped $460,000.

“Larry Joe’s message of holding Washington accountable is resonating with the public, and the response to our television ad has been universally positive,” noted spokesperson Andy Kabza. “And with cash- on-hand over $100,000, our fundraising continues to pick up as people
realize Larry Joe is the best positioned candidate to go toe-to-toe with Republican Mike McCaul in November.”
