Texas Democratic Veterans Chairman Endorses Larry Joe Doherty for Texas Congressional District 10

Over the last few weeks I have had the pleasure of getting to know Larry Joe Doherty, Democratic candidate for Congress in the 10th Congressional District, and his wife Joanne. They remind me of the soldiers, veterans and military families who I have been working with everyday who just want affordable health care for their families and a chance to live out the American Dream. Larry Joe is a proven leader — qualified, experienced, and knowledgeable on the issues, especially those facing our military, our veterans and their families. He has represented working Texans when the justice system has done them wrong. He is a leader who listens. He will be a Congressman who will make you proud he represents you.

That’s why I am proud to wholeheartedly endorse Larry Joe Doherty’s candidacy and ask that you support him to be our next Congressman.

Larry Joe understands we must fulfill our promise of quality health care for our veterans, and reduce the amount of time veterans are forced to wait to get their disability claims reviewed and fairly compensated. Larry Joe supports legislative efforts to substantially increase the number of VA claims representatives, and will work with Veteran Service Organizations to make the process more user friendly and remove the backlog of disability reviews.

Republican Congressman Michael McCaul, and the current administration have been absent when it comes to providing the medical care and benefits our soldiers and veterans deserve. Time and again, McCaul has failed to support the military, veterans and their families. McCaul has sponsored or co-sponsored only 14% of the legislation favored by the Retired Enlisted Association and, in its latest review of legislators, the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America gave McCaul a D for his performance in Congress—truly a dismal performance!

To ensure that we properly honor the sacrifice men and women in uniform have made and continue to make for our great country, Larry Joe is creating a Veterans and Family Member Advisory Committee for his campaign. Once elected, he will continue to meet with this advisory committee to stay current on the issues and challenges facing our veterans. Larry Joe has an open-door policy with all Veteran Service Organizations. As your next Congressman, Larry Joe Doherty will work for a stronger America, by ensuring our country fulfills its promise to our military, our veterans and their families.
